Magdalene College Chapel is open to all, offering a peaceful space for prayer, reflection, or quiet contemplation.

A Place of welcome and reflection
For over 550 years, the Chapel has been a central part of College life. Originally built in the 1470s to serve the Benedictine monks, it now stands as a place of worship, music, and community.
The Chapel is open daily, providing a quiet sanctuary for those seeking a moment of peace. Visitors are welcome to light a candle, sit in quiet thought, or admire the beautiful surroundings, including the East Window depicting the life of St Mary Magdalene.
Chapel Services
Services are held throughout the week, and members of the public are warmly invited to attend Sunday and weekday services. Choral Evensong, Morning Prayer, and Candlelit Compline are just some of the opportunities to experience the beauty of the Chapel’s worship and music.
The College Choir plays an integral role in services, offering a rich musical tradition that enhances the Chapel’s atmosphere.

Join the Chapel community
Magdalene students are encouraged to take an active role in Chapel life, whether by reading lessons, leading prayers, serving at Communion, or assisting with events. The Chapel also hosts discussions on faith and belief, open to those of any faith or none.
