Dr Peter Bolgar
College positions: Director of Studies in Natural Sciences (Physical, Part IB Chemistry), College Lecturer in Chemistry
Subject: Natural Sciences
Dr Peter Bolgar is Director of Studies in Chemistry at Magdalene.
I am an organic chemist with a special interest in physical organic chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. After completing my PhD degree at the University of Cambridge, I now focus on teaching chemistry in higher education.
I was born in rural Hungary in 1994. My early education was at the local primary and secondary state schools. I came to the UK in 2013 to pursue my undergraduate studies in Natural Sciences at St Catharine’s College at the University of Cambridge. I continued with my PhD studies at the same place in the field of supramolecular chemistry, under the supervision of Professor Christopher Hunter. After graduating, I took on an Associate Lecturer (Teaching) position at University College London. Besides my position at Magdalene College, I am also a Bye-Fellow of Fitzwilliam College. I teach students for the International Chemistry Olympiad both nationally and internationally. I am an avid amateur meteorologist (feel free to talk about the weather with me any time) and I find great pleasure in outdoor sports, gardening and exploring nature’s wonders.
